Kaiken Ultra Malbec

The Kaiken Ultra Malbec displays an expressive bouquet, dominated by spicy and floral notes that clearly reflect the cool vintage temperatures, along with the dark berry fruit (blueberries, blackberries) characteristic of Malbec. Elegantly structured on the palate, the gently matured tannins frame the aromas and make the wine pleasantly approachable, delicately fruity, fresh, and complex, with a long finish of dried flowers and herbs (rosemary, thyme). The grapes for Montes Kaiken Ultra are gently fermented, and the young wine is then aged for twelve months in 100% French oak barrels. To preserve its original flavor as completely as possible, Kaiken is bottled only lightly filtered. Montes vinifies the Kaiken wines in a leased winery using grapes purchased from various vineyards in the Tupungato region of Mendoza. All suppliers were very carefully selected, and every stage of the winemaking process is overseen by Montes. Once the regions producing the best grapes have been identified, Montes may purchase its own vineyards in Argentina and build a winery.
