Kiefer Chardonnay Eichstetter Herrenbuck

Kiefer Chardonnay Eichstetter Herrenbuck
A Chardonnay that brings the characteristics of the Kaiserstuhl terroir directly into the glass: slim, fresh and with a clear mineral character.
The Kiefer winery is located in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl – one of Germany's warmest wine-growing regions, shaped by volcanic rock and loamy loess soil. It is precisely this alternation between mineral-rich depths and water-retaining topsoil that results in Chardonnays with substance and vibrant acidity.
In the glass, the Herrenbuck displays a pale straw yellow color. The nose offers aromas of ripe pear, a hint of white peach, and a subtle limestone spice in the background. On the palate, the wine remains lean and refreshingly drinkable – no buttery richness, no oak notes, but rather a fine, well-integrated acidity and a clean, uncomplicated finish.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with asparagus with hollandaise sauce, light poultry, or a simple dinner with goat cheese and baguette – an everyday wine that doesn't need to hide.

The Friedrich Kiefer winery in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl looks back on a history that began in 1851 – founded by a teacher from the Markgräflerland region who passionately dedicated himself to what was then a completely new endeavor. Since 2008, the winery has been run by Helene, a certified oenologist, and Martin, a certified engineer, who cultivates over 100 hectares of vines on the characteristic volcanic weathering rock and loess of the Kaiserstuhl region, together with long-standing partner winegrowers. Their motto is "Wine / Style / Performance" – and this is reflected both in their meticulously crafted wines and in labels that inspire enjoyment rather than mere show.
