Kiefer Grauburgunder Freche Kaiserstuhler dry

A Pinot Gris that lives up to its name: fresh, direct and without beating around the bush – typical of Kaiserstuhl.

Kiefer Winery cultivates vineyards at the foot of the Kaiserstuhl hills, where loess loam soils lie atop weathered volcanic rock. This combination gives the wine a mineral backbone that many Pinot Gris wines from the lowlands lack.

In the glass, the wine shines a bright golden yellow. The nose offers aromas of ripe pear and a hint of roasted almond, along with a delicate floral note. On the palate, it is juicy and uncomplicated, with a subtle residual sweetness that makes the wine feel smooth without being heavy. The finish is short and refreshing.

Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 10–12 °C. Pairs well with tarte flambée with crème fraîche and bacon, with Asian noodle dishes with light sauce, or as a simple accompaniment to a summer salad with goat cheese.

The Friedrich Kiefer winery in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl looks back on a history that began in 1851 – founded by a teacher from the Markgräflerland region who passionately dedicated himself to what was then a completely new endeavor. Since 2008, the winery has been run by Helene, a certified oenologist, and Martin, a certified engineer, who cultivates over 100 hectares of vines on the characteristic volcanic weathering rock and loess of the Kaiserstuhl region, together with long-standing partner winegrowers. Their motto is "Wine / Style / Performance" – and this is reflected both in their meticulously crafted wines and in labels that inspire enjoyment rather than mere show.
