Kiefer Beyond Borders Red Wine Cuvée Dry

Seven grape varieties in one glass – that's not a compromise, but a statement. The red wine cuvée "Über Grenzen gehen" (Going Beyond Borders) from the Kiefer winery brings together what hardly anyone knows individually: Prior, Dakapo, Dornfelder, Cabernet Mitos, Cabernet Noir, Pinotin and Frühburgunder.

The Kiefer winery is located in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl in Baden – one of Germany's warmest wine-growing regions, characterized by volcanic soil and long hours of sunshine. This is precisely what grape varieties like Prior or Dakapo need to develop their deep, dark fruit flavors.

In the glass, it displays a deep, dark red color with violet reflections. The nose is spicy and direct: blackberry, blackcurrant, and a hint of dark spices. On the palate, ripe, well-integrated tannins support the wine – no harsh bite, but rather structure with a smooth, creamy texture. The finish is long and spicy.

The Friedrich Kiefer winery in Eichstetten am Kaiserstuhl looks back on a history that began in 1851 – founded by a teacher from the Markgräflerland region who passionately dedicated himself to what was then a completely new endeavor. Since 2008, the winery has been run by Helene, a certified oenologist, and Martin, a certified engineer, who cultivates over 100 hectares of vines on the characteristic volcanic weathering rock and loess of the Kaiserstuhl region, together with long-standing partner winegrowers. Their motto is "Wine / Style / Performance" – and this is reflected both in their meticulously crafted wines and in labels that inspire enjoyment rather than mere show.
