Côte de Nuits Villages ''Le Vaucrain'' Domaine Louis Jadot

Côte de Nuits Villages ''Le Vaucrain'' Domaine Louis Jadot
A Burgundy that shows what the northern Côte de Nuits can do even beyond the major appellations: structure, depth, and the typical Pinot Noir elegance at a reasonable price.
Louis Jadot is one of the most well-known négociant houses of the Côte d'Or — founded in 1859 in Beaune, today with its own vineyard holdings of over 200 hectares. The site Le Vaucrain is located in the northernmost tip of the Côte de Nuits, on the border to Nuits-Saint-Georges. Clay-rich soils with limestone subsoil, which give the Pinot Noir grip and minerality. Aging around one year in French oak.
In the glass, cherry and dark plum appear, plus a hint of violet and undergrowth. The wood provides subtle spice in the background — cedar wood, a touch of vanilla — without dominating the fruit. Medium body, fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, medium-long finish.
- Food pairing: Coq au Vin, braised beef brisket, mature Époisses, or Comté
- Serving temperature: 16–18 °C
