Côte de Nuits Villages ''Le Vaucrain'' Domaine Louis Jadot

A Burgundy that shows what the northern Côte de Nuits can offer beyond the major appellations: structure, depth and the typical Pinot Noir elegance at a reasonable price.

Louis Jadot is one of the most renowned négociant houses of the Côte d'Or — founded in 1859 in Beaune, today with its own vineyards of over 200 hectares. The Le Vaucrain vineyard lies in the northernmost part of the Côte de Nuits, bordering Nuits-Saint-Georges. Clay-rich soils with a limestone subsoil give the Pinot Noir grip and minerality. Aging takes place for approximately one year in French oak barrels.

In the glass, aromas of cherry and dark plum are revealed, along with a hint of violet and undergrowth. The oak provides subtle spice in the background—cedar, a touch of vanilla—without overpowering the fruit. Medium-bodied, with fine-grained tannins, lively acidity, and a medium-long finish.
