SUD Negroamaro
Negroamaro from Apulia is presented here in an approachable, characterful interpretation: spicy fruit, good structure, yet not heavy. Feudi di San Marzano produces the SUD Negroamaro for everyday enjoyment without compromising on style.
The Feudi di San Marzano winery is located in Salento, the heel of Italy's boot – home of the Negroamaro grape variety, which has been rooted here for millennia. The estate's wines represent an approachable interpretation of Puglia: a solid style, clear varietal identity, and a broad base. The SUD is the entry-level label, but by no means a mere filler.
Four months of aging in oak barrels shape the profile: dark cherry, a touch of plum, a hint of tobacco and dried herbs – thyme, perhaps oregano. Medium-bodied, soft tannins, a slightly bittersweet finish, typical of Negroamaro. Not a complex, multi-layered wine, but honest and well-rounded.
Best served between 16 and 18 °C . Pairs well with pasta with tomato sauce, grilled lamb chops, caponata, or a strong sheep's cheese. Also a simple evening wine without any fuss.
