Family wine Scheurebe off-dry

Scheurebe feinherb is a rarity on the German white wine shelf — and the winemakers of Sommerach show why this grape variety deserves more attention: intense blackcurrant meets a lively fruit acidity that keeps the wine lean and fresh despite a pronounced residual sweetness.

The Sommerach winegrowers are a cooperative located on the Main River in Franconia, whose members jointly cultivate vineyards around Sommerach. Under the "Family Grown" label, the participating winegrowing families are named on the bottle—each family contributes its share of the harvest, resulting in a wine with a collective character and clear origin.

In the glass, the Scheurebe displays its typical aroma profile: cassis and blackcurrant dominate, complemented by a hint of grapefruit and floral notes. The acidity remains present without being harsh—it gives the wine structure and ensures that the delicate texture doesn't feel heavy. The finish is long and fruity.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C . Pairs well with spicy dishes such as Asian curry, blue cheese, or asparagus dishes with hollandaise sauce. Also a good choice as an aperitif with summer snacks.

Winzer Sommerach

Winzer Sommerach is the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in Franconia – founded in 1901 by 35 winegrowing families who joined forces to survive during a time of phylloxera infestation and plummeting prices. Today, 90 families carry on this tradition, cultivating around 200 hectares on the Main River loop and tending the Sommeracher Katzenkopf vineyard, one of the most important sites in the region. Their motto, "High standards make the difference," is not just a slogan: every bottle can be traced back to a specific winegrower and their vineyard – transparency and community as a lived principle for over 120 years.
