An uncomplicated Franconian wine for everyday use: The Sommerlust Rivaner shows what the Sommerach cooperative can get out of this classic grape variety — fresh, light, with clear fruit.
The Sommerach winegrowers' cooperative is one of Franconia's most traditional winegrowers' associations, founded in 1901 on the Main River between Volkach and Schwarzach. Around 220 members cultivate the sandy and limestone-dominated vineyards surrounding the village—ideal conditions for light, aromatic white wines. Rivaner, a classic everyday grape variety of Franconia, is at home here.
In the glass, the wine displays aromas of ripe pear and a hint of white peach, supported by a subtle floral spiciness. The palate is light and delicate, the acidity restrained—an approachable style that won't polarize. The finish remains pleasantly fruity.
Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 8–10 °C. Pairs well with light summer dishes such as tarte flambée, fruit salad with goat cheese, or as an aperitif on warm evenings. Drink now — no aging required.

The label "luscious" sounds like dessert wine, but doesn't quite hit the character here. The Rivaner is fruity with restrained acidity — noticeably sweet, but light and accessible, not heavy or sticky. Ripe pear and a hint of white peach dominate.
What does the wine pair best with?
It works well as an uncomplicated aperitif, but also with tarte flambée, asparagus, light salads, or goat cheese. The restrained acidity makes it an uncomplicated companion for dishes that cannot handle a wine that is too dry.

The Winery
Winzer Sommerach is the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in Franconia – founded in 1901 by 35 winegrowing families who joined forces during a time of phylloxera infestation and falling prices to survive together.
Today, 90 families carry this idea forward, cultivating around 200 hectares on the Mainschleife and guarding the Sommeracher Katzenkopf, one of the most significant sites in the region.
The motto "Quality makes the difference" is no empty phrase: every bottle can be traced back to a specific winemaker and their vineyard – transparency and community as a lived principle for over 120 years.
