Winzer Sommerach Valentin Domina dry

Winzer Sommerach Valentin Domina dry
Domina is Franconia's answer to cooler red wine vineyards: a cross between Portugieser and Pinot Noir that delivers color and fruit even in weaker years. The Valentin from the Sommerach winery demonstrates what this grape variety can achieve in the sandy limestone soils of Mainfranken.
On the nose, fresh blackberry and blackcurrant , with a spicy background of clove and juniper. On the palate, medium-bodied, soft tannins, pleasant acidity – not a heavy wine, but one that is easy to drink. The finish is short to medium-long, slightly spicy.
Serving temperature: 16–17 °C. Pairs well with grilled sausage , lentil soup with bacon, or a hearty country bread with Camembert. Also a solid choice as an uncomplicated accompaniment to a weeknight dinner—drink now, no aging potential.

Winzer Sommerach is the oldest winegrowers' cooperative in Franconia – founded in 1901 by 35 winegrowing families who joined forces to survive during a time of phylloxera infestation and plummeting prices. Today, 90 families carry on this tradition, cultivating around 200 hectares on the Main River loop and tending the Sommeracher Katzenkopf vineyard, one of the most important sites in the region. Their motto, "High standards make the difference," is not just a slogan: every bottle can be traced back to a specific winegrower and their vineyard – transparency and community as a lived principle for over 120 years.
