Beisiegel Traisener Rotenfels Riesling dry
The Rotenfels vineyard near Traisen is one of the most striking single vineyard sites in the Nahe region—a vertically sloping porphyry cliff, among the highest cliffs north of the Alps. The volcanic rock stores heat, releases minerality, and imparts a unique character to the Riesling that is almost impossible to imitate.
Beisiegel Winery cultivates this vineyard with a focus on varietal typicity: dry fermentation, a clear expression of origin. In the glass, the Riesling displays aromas of white peach, citrus peel, and a subtle smokiness that directly points to the volcanic bedrock. The acidity is present but well-integrated—not sharp, but rather an invigorating line that keeps the wine lively. Medium-long finish with a salty, slightly mineral aftertaste.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Pairs well with grilled trout or pike-perch fillet, asparagus with hollandaise sauce, or young goat's cheese. Also a solid choice as an aperitif on warm evenings. Drink now until 2026.

The Beisiegel winery in Traisen on the Nahe River is a true family business with deep roots: The family has been based in Traisen since 1579, and they have been bottling their own wines since 1959. Today, Walter and Alexander Beisiegel, the fourth generation, manage 13 hectares of vineyards in the Traisen and Norheim sites – characterized by porphyry and melaporphyry soils that impart a distinctive minerality and almost salty spiciness to the Rieslings. Without compromise in vineyard management and without aggressive chemicals, they produce wines that make their terroir immediately apparent in the glass.
