Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon Garda
For the Cabernet Sauvignon, only the ripest grapes are selected and hand-harvested to ensure that only the best quality is used in the production of this wine. After fermentation, the wine ages for no less than 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, followed by 3 months in tanks to rest, and then a further 6 months in the bottle before release. The Cabernet Sauvignon del Garda displays a beautiful and intense garnet-red color. The nose is very complex, rich, and persistent, with notes of ripe red fruit, jam, a hint of vanilla, spices, and a subtle herbal note. It has a long, aromatic finish. The winery was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and, following his death, is now run by his wife and children. Located south of Lake Garda, the family business owns 75 hectares of vineyards, including those in the Valpolicella and Lugana regions, which are among the finest. Grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, Trebbiano, Merlot, Garganego, and Chardonnay are cultivated on the mineral-rich soils. The optimal microclimate in this region provides the necessary conditions for producing grapes of exceptional quality. Sergio Zenato exports its wines throughout Italy, across Europe, and now even to the USA. Approximately two million bottles of wine are produced annually.
