Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon Garda
For the Cabernet Sauvignon, only the ripest grapes are selected and hand-picked to ensure that only the best quality is processed for the production of this wine. After fermentation, the wine is stored for no less than 15 to 18 months in oak barrels, followed by 3 months in the tank to rest, and then another 6 months in the bottle before the wine is marketed.
The Cabernet Sauvignon del Garda shows a beautiful and intense garnet red color. The nose is very complex, rich and persistent with notes of ripe red fruits, jam, a hint of vanilla, spices and a fine herbal note. It has a long aromatic finish.

How does the Santa Cristina Cabernet Sauvignon Garda taste?
Ripe red fruits and jam in the foreground, plus vanilla, spices, and a fine herbal note. The wine is dry, aromatically dense, and has a long finish — not a light everyday wine, but one with substance.
What does the wine pair best with?
It goes well with braised lamb, game dishes, or goose, but also with roast veal or hearty pasta with meat sauce. The fruit fullness and the tannin need something on the plate.
At what temperature should I serve it?
Recommended are 8–10 °C — that sounds cool for a red wine, but at 14.5% ABV and the fruit density, the aromatics come out most clearly this way. Take it out of the fridge shortly before pouring.
Is it worth storing the wine further?
It has already had over two years of maturation time — 15–18 months in oak barrels, then tank and bottle rest. Ready to drink now, but it easily tolerates a few more years in the cellar if you store it cool and dark.
Is this a powerful or rather light red wine?
Clearly on the powerful side: 14.5% ABV, intense color, rich nose. Those who prefer light, fresh red wines are wrong here — those who seek structure and depth are right.
The Winery
The Zenato winery was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and is today, after his death, managed by his wife Carla and their children Alberto and Nadia. Located south of Lake Garda, the family business has around 95 hectares of vineyards in two of the most renowned locations in Northern Italy: Valpolicella and Lugana. Both growing regions are among the best of their kind and give Zenato's wines their unmistakable origin.
On the mineral-rich soils around the lake, grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, Trebbiano, Merlot, Garganega and Chardonnay thrive – a variety that is typical of the region and forms the basis for the winery's different styles. The mild microclimate on Lake Garda, characterized by warm days and balancing winds from the lake, ensures even ripening of the grapes and thus creates the perfect conditions for quality in every vintage.
From a family business to an internationally respected name: Zenato now exports its wines within Italy, throughout Europe and now to the USA. Around two million bottles are produced annually – and despite this size, the demand for artisanal quality and terroir loyalty remains the foundation of every bottle that leaves the house today.
