Santa Cristina Lugana

Santa Cristina Lugana
Trebbiano di Lugana in its easy-drinking, aromatically open form: straw yellow with greenish reflections in the glass, fresh on the nose, more structured on the palate than one would expect at first glance.
The Zenato winery has been one of the leading names in the Lake Garda region since the 1960s. Sergio Zenato developed the estate into one of the most renowned Lugana producers – the Santa Cristina line being the classic entry point into the winery's style: down-to-earth, reliable, and uncompromising in the quality of the grapes. Trebbiano di Lugana grows on the clay-rich soils south of Lake Garda, which impart a natural freshness and a subtle mineral depth to the wine, qualities often lacking in other white wine styles.
The nose reveals white blossoms, a hint of acacia blossom, a touch of honey, and a subtle spiciness. On the palate, the acidity is crisp and invigorating without being harsh – a perfect balance between fruit and freshness. The finish brings the characteristic almond note of Trebbiano di Lugana, dry and pleasantly lingering.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Best enjoyed young, within the next one to two years. It pairs well with pike-perch fillet, grilled prawns, lemon risotto, or light pasta dishes with vegetables. It also makes a great aperitif on a warm evening.

What is special about the Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety?
The Zenato winery was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and is today, after his death, managed by his wife Carla and their children Alberto and Nadia. Located south of Lake Garda, the family business has around 95 hectares of vineyards in two of the most renowned locations in Northern Italy: Valpolicella and Lugana. Both growing regions are among the best of their kind and give Zenato's wines their unmistakable origin.
On the mineral-rich soils around the lake, grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, Trebbiano, Merlot, Garganega and Chardonnay thrive – a variety that is typical of the region and forms the basis for the winery's different styles. The mild microclimate on Lake Garda, characterized by warm days and balancing winds from the lake, ensures even ripening of the grapes and thus creates the perfect conditions for quality in every vintage.
From a family business to an internationally respected name: Zenato now exports its wines within Italy, throughout Europe and now to the USA. Around two million bottles are produced annually – and despite this size, the demand for artisanal quality and terroir loyalty remains the foundation of every bottle that leaves the house today.
