Alanera Rosso Veronese

Alanera Rosso Veronese from the Zenato winery is a seductive red wine from the Verona region that combines the power of the Valpolicella grape varieties with a modern style. The wine is a blend of the classic varieties Corvina, Rondinella, and Corvinone , complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, and presents an interpretation of the Veronese style that plays with the idea of Amarone without copying its extract.

The wine is produced using an innovative appassimento method: approximately half of the grapes undergo a pre-drying period of around 45–60 days, which concentrates the juices and gives the cuvée additional density and depth. After fermentation, Alanera Rosso Veronese matures partly in large, old oak or stainless steel tanks to round out the tannin structure without masking its fruity, fresh character.

In the glass, it displays a dark, rich red with violet reflections. The nose unfolds intense aromas of ripe cherries, dark berries, plums, subtle tobacco and roasted notes, delicate spices, and a hint of vanilla. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, with soft, silky tannins, well-integrated acidity, and a long, rounded finish. The description "baby Amarone" is apt: it is concentrated and dense, yet remains approachable and harmonious. Served at around 16–18 °C , it pairs ideally with game, grilled beef, hearty cheeses, or rustic stews.

Sergio Zenato

The winery was founded in 1960 by Sergio Zenato and, following his death, is now run by his wife and children. Located south of Lake Garda, the family business owns 75 hectares of vineyards, including those in the Valpolicella and Lugana regions, which are among the finest. Grape varieties such as Corvina, Rondinella, Trebbiano, Merlot, Garganego, and Chardonnay are cultivated on the mineral-rich soils. The optimal microclimate in this region provides the necessary conditions for producing grapes of exceptional quality. Sergio Zenato exports its wines throughout Italy, across Europe, and now even to the USA. Approximately two million bottles of wine are produced annually.
