L'Odalet Viognier

L'Odalet Viognier
An aromatic Viognier from the south of France – soft, fruity and uncomplicated in the best sense.
Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus is one of the largest and most renowned wine producers in France. With L'Odalet, they present an approachable southern French wine that showcases the typical strengths of the Viognier grape: lush floral aromas, ripe fruit, and a pleasantly rounded mouthfeel without any harsh edges.
In the glass, a pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose opens quickly with aromas of acacia blossom, ripe pear, and a fresh citrus note in the background. On the palate, the wine is soft and ripe – quince and pear take center stage, accompanied by moderate, well-integrated acidity. As is typical for the grape variety, the tannins are barely noticeable; the finish is short to medium-long and leaves a pleasantly fruity impression.
Viognier from the Languedoc often ripens under the southern French sun to full aromatic maturity – this is reflected here in the melting texture and the pronounced floral note that makes the grape variety so characteristic.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Best enjoyed young, ideally within the next one to two years. Pairs well with creamy poultry dishes with saffron or lemon butter, vegetable quiche, mild goat cheese, or a light risotto with peas and herbs.
