Pomerol is one of the smallest and most sought-after appellations in Bordeaux. The wines from this iron-rich clay soil on the right bank of the Dordogne are considered some of the most sensual red wines in France. Merlot clearly dominates here and gives the wines their typical warmth: a velvety tannin, a dense, ripe fruit, and a texture that feels pleasantly round even at a young age – without losing depth.
Pomerol does not need an official classification to convince. The wines speak for themselves: full-bodied, complex, and with an elegance that differs significantly from the more tannin-heavy appellations of the Left Bank.
