Limoux – Southern France's quiet pearl for sparkling wine and Chardonnay
Limoux is located in the heart of the Languedoc, not far from Carcassonne, and is considered one of the most exciting sparkling wine regions in France. Crémant, Blanquette, and still Chardonnay
The Crémant de Limoux is produced using the traditional bottle fermentation method and is based primarily on Chardonnay, supplemented by local varieties like Mauzac and Chenin Blanc. The result is a lively, dry sparkling wine with fine mousse. The Blanquette de Limoux relies more heavily on Mauzac and thus appears somewhat more independent in character. Besides this, Limoux shows that Chardonnay also works very well as a still white wine in the cool hilly climate – structured and with depth.
