Castello Banfi Poggio all Mura Rosso di Montalcino DOC

Castello Banfi Poggio all Mura Rosso di Montalcino DOC
A Sangiovese from the heart of the Montalcino hills — more approachable than its big brother Brunello, but with the same mineral depth of the high altitudes.
Since the late 1970s, Castello Banfi has cultivated around 850 hectares south of Siena, including the Poggio alle Mura estate on one of the best terroirs in the entire Brunello zone. The Rosso di Montalcino is the earlier, more readily drinkable wine made from the same Sangiovese Grosso grapes—vinified for accessibility rather than decades of aging.
In the glass, it displays aromas of red cherry, dried herbs, and a hint of earth. The tannins are ripe and firm, the acidity lively, and the finish characterized by a subtle spiciness. 91 Parker points underscore the quality of the 2016 vintage.
Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, wild boar salami, Pecorino stagionato, or pasta with meat ragù. Ready to drink now, will keep well until 2026.
