Castello Banfi La Pettegola Vermentino Toscana
A Tuscan Vermentino with a certain coastal character: fresh, aromatic and with the lively acidity that makes this grape variety so suitable for everyday use.
Castello Banfi is one of Tuscany's most renowned estates, headquartered in the heart of Brunello country around Montalcino. With La Pettegola —Tuscan slang for a talkative, lively person—Banfi reveals a different side: light, uncomplicated, and summery. Vermentino grapes are primarily grown along the Tuscan coast and on the islands, where salty sea air and calcareous soils contribute to its characteristic freshness.
In the glass, aromas of yellow pear, white peach, and a hint of citrus peel are revealed. These are complemented by a floral note—reminiscent of elderflower and orange blossom. The palate is medium-bodied, with fresh acidity and a slightly salty, invigorating finish. A silver medal at Mundus Vini (2017 vintage) underscores the solid quality of this everyday wine.
Serving temperature 8–10 °C. Goes well with grilled calamari, mussels in white wine, light pasta dishes with lemon, or a summery goat cheese salad.
