Castello Banfi Poggio alle Mura Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
Poggio alle Mura is the prestige Brunello of Castello Banfi — created from over two decades of Sangiovese research at the winery and the targeted selection of the best sites around the medieval castle in Montalcino.
Castello Banfi has been one of the defining forces of Brunello since the 1970s. The winery has made significant contributions to clonal research of Sangiovese Grosso and today cultivates around 850 hectares in the southwest of Montalcino — one of the warmest and earliest ripening zones of the wine region.
In the glass, the 2020 vintage—awarded gold at Mundus Vini 2025 and the Berlin Wine Trophy 2025 —displays dense, ripe fruit: dark cherry, plum, a hint of tobacco and leather. The palate confirms the winery's reputation for approachable, well-integrated tannins: the body is powerful, yet the structure remains rounded, the finish long with warm spice notes.
