Castello Banfi Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG

Castello Banfi is one of the most renowned wineries in Tuscany. Located at Castello di Poggio alle Mura near Montalcino, the estate covers approximately 850 hectares, of which around 300 hectares are vineyards. In the Chianti Classico DOCG – the historic heartland between Florence and Siena – Banfi focuses on the indigenous Sangiovese grape variety, which develops its characteristic blend of fruit and acidity thanks to the combination of calcareous soils, altitude, and Mediterranean climate.

The nose reveals aromas of dark cherry and blackberry, underpinned by hints of leather, tobacco, and oregano – the typical profile of a mature Sangiovese. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, with firm yet polished tannins, lively acidity, and a lingering, slightly spicy finish. Riserva aging in oak barrels adds subtle vanilla and smoky notes without masking the varietal freshness.
