Carmes de Rieussec Sauternes 0.375L

Carmes de Rieussec is the second wine of Château Rieussec – one of the most prestigious Premier Cru Classé Sauternes estates, which has been part of Domaines Barons de Rothschild since 1984. The half-bottle (0.375 l) is ideal for two glasses as an aperitif or to conclude a dinner, without having to open a whole bottle.

On the nose, it displays tropical fruit and fresh citrus notes, reminiscent of botrytis-affected Sémillon from the Sauternais. On the palate, it is pure and velvety, with honeyed tones and a lively, yet not heavy, finish. For a Sauternes, the balance is decidedly on freshness rather than opulence – enjoyable young, without requiring extensive cellaring.

Serving temperature: 8–10 °C. Pairs well with Roquefort cheese, foie gras terrine, fresh peaches or almond pastries.
