Turriga IGT Isola dei Nuraghi rosso 3.0L

Turriga is the flagship of Argiolas and one of the most famous red wines from Sardinia. The 3.0-liter magnum bottle is filled as a double magnum, making this dense, powerful wine the centerpiece of any table.

The wine is made from the indigenous varieties Cannonau, Carignano, Bovale Sardo, and Malvasia Nera. The grapes grow on low-yield sites in Selegas-Piscina Trigus, at an altitude of 230 meters. Calcareous soils with pebbles and stony layers meet a Mediterranean climate. After hand-harvesting, the wine ferments at 28 to 32 °C and remains on the skins for 16 to 18 days. It then matures for 18 to 24 months in new French barriques and for another 12 to 14 months in the bottle.

In the glass, it shows an intense ruby red. On the nose, ripe cherries and plums meet vanilla, roasted aromas, and warm herbal spice. Soft and structured on the palate, with cassis and a dense texture, the finish is long. Recommendation: Braised beef, leg of lamb with rosemary, or aged Pecorino Sardo. Serve at 16 to 18 °C and decant beforehand.

The Winery

Argiolas

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare winery is managed today in the third generation by his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, focus on quality.

With oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, the sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate gives them ideal conditions.

The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over 2 million bottles annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
