Korem IGT Isola dei Nuraghi Bovale 0.375L

The Korem from Argiolas shows what Bovale Sardo can do: dark-fruited, spicy, and with an acidity that keeps it lively. The 0.375-liter bottle is a good fit if you are cooking for two and don't want to open a large bottle right away.

Argiolas is one of the defining wineries of Sardinia and stands for the island's wines with their autochthonous grape varieties. The Korem bears the origin designation IGT Isola dei Nuraghi. The 2023 vintage was warm, but a cooler phase during the harvest preserved freshness and acidity structure while the grapes ripened completely.

In the glass, it glows ruby red with a garnet shimmer. On the nose, blackberries and myrtle berries meet fresh herbs, undergrowth, dark spices, and coffee; in the background, there is a hint of vanilla. On the palate, it is dry and full-bodied; the tannins are present but finely integrated. Lively acidity and spice carry it into a long finish with red fruits and balsamic herbal notes.

We recommend it with lamb with rosemary, pasta with game ragout, or aged Pecorino. Serve it at 16 to 18 °C.

The Winery

Argiolas

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare winery is managed today in the third generation by his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, focus on quality.

With oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, the sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate gives them ideal conditions.

The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over 2 million bottles annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
