Product description

Six white wines for the most beautiful season of the year: The Asparagus Season Sample pack brings together bottles from Germany and Italy that offer exactly what asparagus needs — fresh acidity, aromatic precision, and enough character to impress even on their own. The range of styles extends from crisp and citrus-fresh to creamy and full-bodied, from light and aromatic to mineral and dry. Whether it's classic white asparagus with hollandaise sauce, green asparagus from the grill, or a simple dinner on the balcony — the answer is already poured.

Markus Schneider Kaitui Sauvignon Blanc – Markus Schneider (Germany, Pfalz)
The name is a nod to New Zealand, the terroir is Pfalz: limestone soils at a cool altitude that give the grape variety a mineral character and slow ripening. In the glass, citrus zest, gooseberry, and ripe yellow melon, accompanied by a juicy, long finish. A Sauvignon Blanc with real tension — especially strong with green asparagus with herb sauces or grilled fish.

Metzger Prachtstück Spätburgunder Blanc de Noir – Weingut Metzger (Germany, Pfalz)
Pinot Noir, pressed immediately, hardly any color in the must: The result is a delicate salmon pink with aromas of melon, apple compote, and a mineral note on the finish. Weingut Metzger works in the northern part of the Pfalz, where cooler temperatures give the Pinot Noir more tension than heat. This Blanc de Noir goes well with white asparagus with ham or with salmon — best served at 10–12 °C.

The pack includes four more bottles: the aromatic and spicy Schreckbichl Pfefferer Goldmuskateller from South Tyrol, which combines Goldmuskateller and Gewürztraminer and delights with white pepper and ripe citrus — ideal as an aperitif or with asparagus with an Asian twist. The Zenato Lugana San Benedetto from Lake Garda brings Trebbiano di Lugana to the glass: acacia blossom, peach, lively acidity, and a spicy depth that is unusual for this price range. The Calalenta Bianco from the Fantini Group in Abruzzo impresses with fresh lime, white flowers, and a clean, uncomplicated finish. The selection is rounded off by the Studier Grauburgunder dry — organically farmed, creamy on the palate, with peach, apricot, and a slightly earthy minerality in the background.

Pairs well with: white asparagus with hollandaise sauce or beurre blanc, green asparagus with Parmesan, pan-fried sea bass, salmon fillet with lemon butter, chicken with herbs, or a plate of antipasti to start. The pack is suitable as a gift for asparagus lovers, as a supply for the season, or as a basis for a small wine tasting with friends — six bottles, one clear theme, plenty of variety in the glass.
