Schreckbichl Winery

Schreckbichl Winery – South Tyrolean winemaking since 1960. Twenty-six winegrowers joined forces back then to gain more independence. Today, there are approximately 300 members cultivating around 300 hectares between 230 and 650 meters above sea level – one of South Tyrol's finest vineyard sites. Tradition and modernity go hand in hand here: meticulous handwork in the vineyard, natural farming practices, state-of-the-art cellar technology, photovoltaics, and heat recovery. The portfolio includes Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, as well as Pinot Noir, Merlot, and Vernatsch. Authentic wines with regional character. Schreckbichl – a cooperative with a clear vision.

Schreckbichl Winery –
A cooperative with principles from South Tyrol

What began in 1960 with 26 winegrowers is today one of South Tyrol's most influential cooperatives: around 300 members jointly cultivate approximately 300 hectares of vineyards between 230 and 650 meters above sea level – an altitude profile that gives the wines of Kellerei Schreckbichl their characteristic freshness and depth. The vineyards around Girlan are among the most diverse in the region, with soils ranging from limestone and porphyry to moraine deposits.

In the vineyard, Schreckbichl relies on meticulous handwork and sustainable farming practices – in the cellar, on modern technology that precisely brings out the potential of each site. Photovoltaics and heat recovery are not just marketing promises, but have been standard practice for years. The result is wines that don't hide their origins: a Sauvignon Blanc with clear herbal notes, a Pinot Noir with cool fruit, a Gewürztraminer that prioritizes elegance over heaviness.

The range extends from international varieties such as Chardonnay and Merlot to regional characterful wines such as Vernatsch – all wines that show what a well-managed cooperative can achieve when craftsmanship and community come together.
