Product description

Six Rieslings, six winemakers' signatures, one common denominator: the grape variety that made Germany world-famous. The Riesling Sample pack takes you from the Rheingau via the Palatinate to the Mosel and Saar, showing how different one and the same grape can taste depending on the soil and site – from chalky-taut to exotic-lush.

A highlight is the Künstler Herrnberg Riesling Erste Lage trocken from the Künstler winery in Hochheim. The grapes grow on the chalk-rich gravel soils of the Main terraces, VDP.Erste Lage. In the glass, it shows lime, apricot, and white peach, carried by a fine, almost salty minerality and a long, precise finish – a Riesling with the potential for aging.

Quite different, but just as impressive: the Van Volxem Riesling Alte Reben trocken from the Saar. Up to 120-year-old vines, gentle pressing over seven hours, and spontaneous fermentation in used wooden barrels result in a wine of rare depth. Salty, almost penetrating minerality meets concentrated fruit and taut freshness – an arc of tension that lingers long.

The exotic note in the pack is provided by the Sorentberg Riesling Rotschiefer from Julius Treis, grown on an almost forgotten steep slope on the Mosel that has been recultivated by young winemakers. The iron-rich, red slate soil gives it aromas of exotic fruits, a hearty acidity accent, and a slight residual sweetness that ensures fullness – awarded four grapes by Gault Millau in 2019.

Pairs well with: the chalky-mineral wines from the Rheingau and Palatinate harmonize with grilled fish, asparagus, or young goat cheese, while the Sorentberg and its fruit-forward style go well with Asian curry dishes or roast goose. Served at 9 to 11 degrees, all six wines unfold their full play of aromas.

Six bottles, six regions, one grape variety in all its facets – at a special price compared to buying individually. Ideal for discovering the range of German Rieslings in a direct comparison, as a gift for wine lovers, or simply to stock up your own cellar with a solid selection.

A great offer!

Both wines are undoubtedly among the best in their price range. We were particularly taken with the Diciotto. We are grateful to Vinoscout for the great wine assortment and for the always fast and reliable delivery even abroad.
