Argiolas Iselis Rosso Monica di Sardegna DOC Superiore

Argiolas Iselis Rosso Monica di Sardegna DOC Superiore
Sardinia's oldest red wine estate brings one of the most reliable interpretations of the Monica grape variety to the bottle with the Iselis Rosso — spicy, full-bodied, and with genuine Mediterranean depth.
Argiolas was founded in 1938 in Serdiana and is today one of the defining names of the Sardinian wine scene. The Iselis Rosso matures for twelve months in barriques and a further six months in the bottle — a maturation period that gives the Monica grape structure without dampening its aromatic vibrancy.
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby red. On the nose, it opens with blackberry and plum, followed by thyme, rosemary, and a trace of Christmas spices — typical of the macchia aromatics of southeast Sardinia. On the palate, it is soft and full-bodied, the tannins are supple, and the finish remains pleasantly long with a slightly spicy, balsamic note.
- Food: Leg of lamb with herbs, Pecorino Sardo, pasta al ragù, grilled merguez

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare estate is now run by the third generation, his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, a focus on quality. With legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, his sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate provides them with ideal growing conditions. The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded three glasses in the Gambero Rosso guide. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over two million bottles produced annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
