Argiolas S'Elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC

Nuragus is one of Sardinia's oldest grape varieties – and at Argiolas, it shows what it's capable of. The S'Elegas is an uncomplicated white wine with a clear character: lively, fresh, and ready to drink.

Argiolas is one of the island's most renowned wineries, family-owned for decades and firmly established in the Nuragus di Cagliari DOC in southern Sardinia. The Nuragus grape variety is deeply rooted in the Sardinian soil – producing light wines that defy the warm island climate while retaining their freshness.

In the glass, the S'Elegas displays aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, and ripe pear. The acidity remains present, keeping the wine lively and ensuring a clean, short finish. Not a complex wine for aging, but a reliable everyday white wine with a Mediterranean character.

Drink it young and well chilled at 8–10 °C. It goes well with grilled fish, pasta with seafood or a simple insalata di mare – and works just as well as an uncomplicated aperitif on warm evenings.

In detail

How does the Argiolas S´Elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC taste?

The Argiolas S´Elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC tastes dry, fresh, and fruit-forward. In the glass, it shows aromas of white peach, honeydew melon, and ripe pear. The fruit appears clear and direct. It does not get lost in many layers.

The acidity remains present and keeps the wine lively. With 14% vol, the S´Elegas has a noticeable body without appearing heavy. The finish is clean and rather short. This fits its profile as an uncomplicated white wine with a Mediterranean pull.

It is vinified from Nuragus, one of the oldest grape varieties in Sardinia. Nuragus is closely linked to the south of the island. The grape variety preserves its freshness even in the warm island climate. Argiolas bottles the S´Elegas in the DOC Nuragus di Cagliari and seals it with a natural cork.

What does the Argiolas S´Elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC pair with?

The Argiolas S´Elegas Nuragus di Cagliari DOC pairs with fish, seafood, pasta, soups, and antipasti. It works particularly well with grilled fish. Pasta with seafood is also a safe choice. For a simple insalata di mare, its acidity brings the necessary freshness.

As an aperitif, the S´Elegas cuts a fine figure on warm evenings. Place it on the table with a platter of antipasti, for example with grilled vegetables and olives. It also goes well with light vegetable soups or a clear fish soup. In spring, you can try it with asparagus. In summer, it accompanies barbecue evenings with fish and prawns.

Serve the Argiolas S´Elegas well-chilled at 8–10 °C. This brings out the peach and melon aromas clearly. The acidity appears particularly fresh at this temperature. It is best to take the bottle out of the refrigerator shortly before pouring.

The Winery

Argiolas

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare winery is managed today in the third generation by his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, focus on quality.

With oenologist legend Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, the sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate gives them ideal conditions.

The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over 2 million bottles annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
