Argiolas Korem Isola dei Nuraghi

The Korem is the top cuvée from Argiolas — a blend of indigenous Sardinian grape varieties centered around Cannonau, which demonstrates what primary rock soils and the island's dry Mediterranean climate can extract from old vines.

Argiolas was founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, southeast of Cagliari. With around 230 hectares, the family winery is the most significant in Sardinia — consistently focused on indigenous grape varieties: Cannonau, Carignano, Bovale. The Korem bears the name of a Nuragic cult site and represents the house's conviction that Sardinian terroirs set their own standards.

Deep ruby red in the glass with violet reflections. On the nose, black blackberry, cherry jam, and licorice, followed by rosemary and a balsamic hint. 12 months of barrique aging layer cedar wood and dark chocolate over it without masking the fruit. Powerful on the palate with dense but supple tannins — the finish is long and spicy.

Pairs with leg of lamb with rosemary, wild boar ragù, or mature Pecorino Sardo. Serving temperature 17–18 °C, best decanted 30 minutes beforehand.
