Cerdeña Vermentino di Sardegna DOC Sardinia 0.75L

Vermentino is the quintessential grape variety of Sardinia — and Argiolas from Serdiana in the south of the island is one of the wineries that brings this character to the bottle most convincingly. The Cerdeña shows what the variety can do on Sardinian limestone and granite soil: no complacency, but contour.

In the glass, it glows in a rich straw yellow. On the nose, it shows white peach, lemon zest, and a hint of fennel — the typical Mediterranean herbal profile that distinguishes Vermentino from other southern Italian white wines. On the palate, there is a lively acidity that gives the wine freshness and length, plus a slight bitterness on the finish — a classic characteristic of the variety that wine connoisseurs appreciate and that pairs well with salty, iodine-rich dishes.

Serve it at 10–12 °C with grilled sea bass with caper butter, with bottarga on pasta, or with a plate of seafood. It also cuts a fine figure with young Pecorino Sardo or a Ligurian focaccia with olives.

Argiolas

Argiolas – the cradle of the Sardinian wine renaissance. Founded in 1938 by Antonio Argiolas in Serdiana, the 230-hectare estate is now run by the third generation, his grandchildren. Antonio was ahead of his time: larger vineyard areas, a focus on quality. With legendary oenologist Giacomo Tachis as a consultant, his sons invested in modernization. Only indigenous grape varieties are cultivated – many almost forgotten. Vermentino, Cannonau, Monica, Carignano – the Mediterranean climate provides them with ideal growing conditions. The highlight: Turriga, regularly awarded three glasses in the Gambero Rosso guide. Sardinian, elegant, international. Over two million bottles produced annually – Sardinian wine culture for the world.
