Clos des Orfeuilles - Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine sur Lie

A classic Muscadet, just as it should be: lean, mineral, with the unmistakable character of the Loire-Atlantique. Not a showy wine—but one that shines precisely when it's needed.

Clos des Orfeuilles is located southeast of Nantes in the heart of the Muscadet de Sèvre et Maine appellation. The winery has been officially recognized as organic since 2012. The term "sur lie" means that the wine matures on its lees without being racked early—this gives it texture, a light yeasty richness, and the typical fresh, effervescent note on the finish.

In the glass, it displays a bright golden yellow. The nose offers aromas of lemon zest, white blossoms, and a hint of sea breeze. On the palate, it is lean and lively—fine acidity, a mineral edge, and a short, dry finish. No oak, no embellishment: pure Melon de Bourgogne, just as the appellation stipulates.

Serving suggestion: Well chilled at 8–10 °C. The ideal accompaniment to oysters, mussels in white wine, pan-fried cod, or a simple seafood platter. Also delicious on its own as an aperitif—a glass with a view of the water.

Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus

It would have been easier to rest on their laurels. But the Castell family thinks ahead. They preserve their expertise, pass on their passion to the next generation, and cultivate their châteaux and estates with joy and vision. For them, wine is more than a product: it's about culture. About sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas with chefs, sommeliers, and all those who love good taste. Producing regional wines and Grands Crus is one thing. Another is keeping nothing to themselves. Sustainably, responsibly, and with heart. Because at Castel Châteaux & Grands Crus, they live by the conviction that wine must follow its own vision. Persistently, boldly, and with a flame that carries on – from generation to generation.
