Niepoort Dry White Port

Niepoort Dry White Port
Dry white port — this is a category often overlooked in the shadow of the classic reds. Niepoort's Dry White shows what is being lost.
The Niepoort family winery is among the most prestigious in the Douro Valley. Owned by the same family since 1842, the fifth generation consistently works with indigenous Douro grape varieties, including Rabigato, Malvasia Fina, and Viosinho. Their Dry White Port matures for an average of three and a half years in used small oak barrels, giving it an unusual depth for a white port.
In the glass, it shines a dark gold. The nose reveals roasted hazelnut, dried apricot, and a hint of beeswax—the barrel aging is clearly noticeable without being overpowering. On the palate, it is dry, with a lively acidity and a long, nutty-spicy finish.
