NatCool Trudy Port

A port wine that falls out of the usual frame: Niepoort's NatCool Trudy Port combines the classic fruit depth of the Douro with a fresh, lively structure — not a heavy, sweet dessert wine profile, but a glass with real tension.

Niepoort is one of the defining names in the Douro Valley. The family winery, founded in 1842 under Dirk Niepoort, has made a name for itself as a pioneer for stylistically open port wine styles. The NatCool line stands for less intervention, more freshness — and an audience that thinks about port wine in a new way.

On the nose, cherry and damson, plus darker plum fruit and a slight hint of toasted wood. In the mouth, juicy, with a fruit sweetness that is kept in check by noticeable acidity and a solid tannin structure. The wine appears lively — unusually fresh for a port wine in the finish.

Serve well chilled at 12–14 °C. Goes well with dark chocolate (from 70% cocoa content), desserts with plum or cherry, as well as strong blue cheese like Gorgonzola piccante.
