Kreuth Chardonnay DOC Magnum

The Kreuth Chardonnay from Cantina Terlan shows what South Tyrol can do with a Burgundian grape variety: not an international uniform style, but a white wine with alpine precision and Mediterranean ripeness.

Cantina Terlan is one of Italy's most prestigious wine cooperatives. Since 1893, the winemakers around the village of Terlano have been cultivating grapes on volcanic porphyry and quartz porphyry soils – the foundation for wines with exceptional minerality and aging potential. Kreuth is the estate's signature Chardonnay: the grapes come from the single vineyard of the same name, situated at an altitude of around 500 meters, where cool mountain nights preserve the acidity.

On the nose, ripe apricot, white peach, and a hint of pineapple – supported by subtle vanilla and delicate brioche notes from the ten months of oak aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet by no means heavy: the high altitude imparts a lively acidity that gives the wine length and vibrancy. The finish is warm, spicy, and lingering.

Serving temperature: 12–14 °C . Drinking window until 2029. The magnum bottle further slows down the maturation process – ideal if you are saving the wine for a special occasion.
Pairs well with veal medallions with butter sauce, scallops, lobster bisque or a mature mountain cheese from Trentino.

Cantina Terlan

Since 1893, the Terlan winery in South Tyrol's Adige Valley has stood for something that has become rare in modern winemaking: patience. What was once founded by 24 winegrowers as a cooperative to emancipate themselves from large landowners is today one of the most prestigious addresses in Alpine winemaking. Cellar master Rudi Kofler, who has shaped the winery since 2002, continues a philosophy established by his predecessor Sebastian Stocker in the 1970s: extended lees aging, consistent focus on quality over quantity, and a legendary wine archive of around 100,000 bottles dating back to 1955. Terlan proves that white wines from volcanic porphyry soil and an Alpine microclimate can be among the longest-lived in the world.
