Gries Lagrein DOC Riserva Magnum

Gries Lagrein DOC Riserva Magnum
Lagrein in its most concentrated form: The Gries Riserva from Terlan comes from the single vineyard of the same name directly near Bolzano – historically the core area of this autochthonous South Tyrolean grape variety.
Terlan, founded in 1893, is one of the most reliable producers of South Tyrolean white wines – but the winery also sets standards for Lagrein. The Gries vineyard lies on the flat, gravelly soils of the Adige valley, which give the Lagrein particularly dark fruit and structure. Vinification takes place in a mix of large wooden casks and barriques, which lends the wine depth without over-oaking it.
In the glass, it displays a deep garnet red. The nose offers blackberry, dark chocolate, and violets – typical of Lagrein, but here with more density and length than in the base wine. On the palate, velvety, ripe tannins, moderate acidity, and a long, slightly cocoa-forward finish.
