Mount Hermon Red

Mount Hermon Red
An approachable red wine from the Golan Heights, combining classic Bordeaux aromas with the volcanic terroir of northern Israel – uncomplicated in the best sense.
Golan Heights Winery is among the pioneers of modern Israeli winemaking. Since 1983, grapes have been cultivated on the basalt soils of the Golan Heights at altitudes of 400–1,200 meters. The combination of cool nights, intense sunshine, and mineral-rich volcanic rock shapes the style of all the winery's wines. Mount Hermon Red is the winery's best-selling wine and, for many wine drinkers, their introduction to Israeli wines. It is certified Kosher Lamehadrin and Kosher for Passover.
Deep ruby red in the glass. The nose reveals blackberry, cassis, and dark forest berries, underpinned by a subtle hint of cedar and clove. Medium-bodied on the palate, with velvety tannins and moderate acidity – the oak aging remains in the background, framing the fruit without overpowering it. The finish is short to medium-long and pleasantly spicy.
Best enjoyed young, ideally within the next two to three years. Serving temperature 16–18 °C. Pairs well with lamb chops, grilled entrecôte, spicy lentil dishes, or mature sheep's cheese.

Golan Heights Winery – vineyards north of the Sea of Galilee, at altitudes between 400 and 1,100 meters. Volcanic soils, a cool climate – ideal conditions for wine. In 1983, four kibbutzim and moshavim joined forces and founded the winery in Katzrin. In 1992, winemaker Victor Schoenfeld joined, bringing experience from France and America. His influence contributed significantly to its success. The award-winning Yarden line is adorned with a mosaic-decorated oil lamp. "Yarden" – the Hebrew word for Jordan. A wine region that surprises and delights.
