Gamla Cabernet Sauvignon

A classically vinified Cabernet Sauvignon from the Golan Heights – strong structure, with dark fruit and a long finish.

Golan Heights Winery is one of Israel's most renowned wineries. Since 1983, it has been vinifying grapes from the volcanic basalt soils of the Golan Plateau, at altitudes of up to 1,200 meters. The significant daily temperature fluctuations between heat and cool nights result in slow ripening and a pronounced acidity – unusual for the region, but crucial for the wine's freshness. The Gamla line is the winery's accessible entry-level range, but it represents the same meticulous cellar techniques used in its higher vineyards.

In the glass, the Gamla displays a deep ruby red. The nose offers blackberry, black cherry, and cocoa, underpinned by a hint of dried herbs and cedar from aging in French oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied with ripe, well-integrated tannins and medium acidity – the finish remains dark-fruited with a slightly spicy note.

Serving suggestion: 16–18 °C, now until 2027. Pairs well with grilled lamb, beef roulades or strong hard cheeses such as Pecorino.
