Product description

Six wines, one winery, one clear signature: This pack shows Markus Schneider from Ellerstadt in the Palatinate from all sides — from a zesty aperitif to a dense red wine cuvée reminiscent of Bordeaux. Those who do not yet know the winemaker will get a complete overview here. Those who already appreciate him will find old acquaintances and new discoveries in one box.

Markus Schneider Black Print is what made the winemaker famous beyond the region: a cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Dorsa, Syrah, and Blaufränkisch that is reminiscent of black ink — in color as well as intensity. Cassis, dark berry fruit, a hint of vanilla and chocolate, dense tannins, long finish. Anyone who didn't have modern German red wines on their radar will change that here.

The Kaitui Sauvignon Blanc shows a different character: The vines grow on cool limestone soils in the Palatinate — conditions reminiscent of Marlborough, which the name Kaitui (Māori for "tailor") deliberately alludes to. Gooseberry, citrus peel, ripe yellow melon, mineral finish. A white wine with emphasis, not a light summer wine.

The pack also covers other styles: Der Ursprung, Schneider's first red wine, combines Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot on gravel and limestone soils at the Feuerberg for a structured introduction to the range. The Grey shows Pinot Gris with melt and fine spice. The Rosé Saigner — produced by the saignée method from six grape varieties including Syrah and Blaufränkisch — brings red berry fruit and herbs into a full-bodied, juicy style. And the Kaitui Sparkling transfers Schneider's direct signature to a fresh sparkling wine with citrus notes and fine perlage.

Pairs well with: grilled rack of lamb or duck breast with red cabbage for the Black Print, pan-fried sea bass or goat cheese for the Kaitui Sauvignon Blanc, pasta with mushrooms or light meat for the Grey, oysters or prawns for the Sparkling as an aperitif. Six bottles that together represent the entire spectrum of one of the most idiosyncratic Palatinate wineries — just as suitable as a gift for wine enthusiasts as it is as a supply for the coming weeks.
