Markus Schneider Black Print
The name Markus Schneider Black Print is meant to suggest that the wine resembles black ink in color and consistency (which is why, for example, red wines in Spanish are also called "tinto"). The wine is a cuvée of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Dorsa, Syrah, and Blaufränkisch and is arguably one of the most modern German red wines. Markus Schneider Black Print offers a multitude of aromas: red and dark berries as well as cassis, vanilla, and chocolate. On the palate, it is intensely fruity, elegant, and complex, but above all, very dense with fine tannins. The finish is very long.

Since 1994, Markus Schneider from Ellerstadt in the Palatinate region has built a winery that does many things differently from its colleagues: no vineyard designations, no quality labels, but instead modern branded wines with an international mix of grape varieties and an unmistakable character. On approximately 92 hectares, he produces concentrated, fruit-forward wines characterized by late harvesting, yield reduction, and meticulous cellar techniques. The avoidance of herbicides, insecticides, and artificial fertilizers, as well as the FAIR'N GREEN certification, demonstrates that Schneider considers quality and responsibility together. From a small barn on the family farm, a business with an annual production of around 800,000 bottles has emerged—and one of the most distinctive success stories in the German wine scene.
