Saint-Aubin

Saint-Aubin is wedged between Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet – and delivers Burgundian Chardonnay at a similar level, without the famous name on the label and without the corresponding surcharge. Those who know and appreciate the great whites of the Côte de Beaune will find the same style here at a significantly more relaxed price.

Louis Jadot is one of the most well-known Négociant houses in Burgundy – based in Beaune since 1859, today with its own vineyard holdings of over 200 hectares and a reputation that goes far beyond France. The house style is characterized by precise vinification, controlled use of wood, and the will to let the origin speak instead of over-shaping it. Saint-Aubin with its lime- and clay-rich soils is a grateful terroir for this.

In the glass, the Chardonnay shows aromas of fresh almond, beeswax, and a hint of white peach. Added to this is a fine mineral line – the direct imprint of the lime-rich soils of the appellation. On the palate, the wine is medium-weight with lively, but never aggressive acidity; the texture is creamy enough to show substance, but remains firm and clear. The finish is finely spicy and lasts significantly longer than the price would suggest.
