Montrachet Grand Cru

Montrachet is one of the white wines against which other Chardonnays are measured: full-bodied, powerful, and multi-layered, yet always in balance. This Grand Cru from Louis Jadot shows why the location stands out even among the Grands Crus of Burgundy.

Louis Jadot is one of the great houses of Burgundy. The house ages the Montrachet in steel tanks, where it matures for a good 15 months on the fine lees. The yeast gives it structure and density without masking the finesse.

In the glass, you can expect a dry Chardonnay with notes of citrus, ripe pear, and hazelnut, plus a mineral line. On the palate, it appears full and taut at the same time; the finish is long. Serve it at 11–13 °C, not too cold, so that its complexity can unfold. It goes with lobster with butter, fried turbot, or sweetbreads, as well as aged Comté.
