Fransola
The Fransola from Torres shows what Sauvignon Blanc from Catalonia can do: not loud freshness, but depth and texture — the result of an unusual aging in wooden barrels.
Torres is one of Spain's most renowned wineries, family-owned since 1870 and now in its fifth generation. The Fransola comes from the cool Penedès region, where Atlantic influences contribute to its freshness—unusual for a Spanish white wine producer.
In the glass, ripe fig, a hint of mint, and exotic fruit, which, thanks to partial aging in American and French oak (50% first use), acquire a creamy texture and subtle spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with a supportive structure—not a light summer wine, but a white wine with substance. The finish is long, with a delicate citrus note that adds freshness to the richness.
Serving temperature 10–12 °C. Goes well with grilled sea bass, chicken in cream sauce or a mature goat cheese.
