Waltraud Riesling

A Riesling from Spain – that sounds unusual, but there's a clear story behind it. Waltraud is named after Waltraud Maczassek, the German wife of Miguel Torres, and is the result of her conviction that Riesling also works in the Penedès region.

The Torres winery is one of the most renowned in Catalonia – family-owned for generations, internationally oriented, yet firmly rooted in the Mediterranean terroir. The Penedès region lies between the coast and the mountains, with cool nights that preserve the essential aromatics of the Riesling grape.

In the glass, citrus zest, white blossoms, and a delicate hint of peach are revealed. The acidity is lively but smooth – typical of Riesling from cooler locations, here rounded off with a softer, Mediterranean touch. Slightly sweet, with a fresh, mineral finish.
