Cuvée Wachtenburg red wine
A cuvée from the best vineyards of the Wachtenburg winegrowers, matured for nine months in medium-aged barriques — the wood provides structure without masking the fruit.
The Wachtenburg winegrowers are a winegrowers' cooperative from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route, in the heart of the Palatinate region. The vineyards surrounding the historic Wachtenburg castle are considered one of the lowest-yielding sites in the region—deliberately cultivated to promote concentration in the grapes. Old vines, significantly reduced yields: this is the foundation of this wine, awarded the Gold Chamber Prize Medal.
In the glass, it displays a deep ruby red color. The nose offers dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of cassis, underpinned by mild roasted aromas and clove from the barrique. On the palate, soft, well-integrated tannins, a pleasant spiciness, and a lingering, rounded finish without any harsh edges.
