Cuvée Wachtenburg red wine

A cuvée from the best sites of the Wachtenburg-Winzer, aged for nine months in medium-aged barriques — the wood provides structure without masking the fruit.

The Wachtenburg Winzer are a winegrowers' cooperative from Wachenheim an der Weinstraße, in the heart of the Palatinate. The vineyards around the historic Wachtenburg are considered some of the lowest-yielding sites in the region — intentionally so, to promote concentration in the berry. Old vines, significantly reduced yields: this is the foundation of this wine, awarded the Gold Chamber Prize Medal.

In the glass, it shows a dense ruby red. On the nose, dark cherry, blackberry, and a hint of cassis, underpinned by mild roasted aromas and clove from the barrique. On the palate, soft, well-integrated tannins, a pleasant spice, and a persistent, round finish without sharp edges.
