Wachtenburg Dornfelder sweet winemaker's pride
The Wachtenburg Dornfelder Winzerstolz (sweet) comes from the heart of the Palatinate – from Wachenheim on the Wine Route, where Wachtenburg winemakers have been bottling the typical strengths of their region for generations. This red wine is for everyone who sees wine not as an obligation, but as a true pleasure – approachable, uncomplicated, and full of character.
In the glass, the Dornfelder displays a rich ruby red color. The nose opens with delicate aromas of sweet cherry and fresh herbs , which continue on the palate. The pleasant residual sweetness is finely integrated, never heavy, and makes this wine a pleasant companion for many occasions.
It goes particularly well with:
- light meat dishes and spicy pasta sauces
- medium-ripe cheeses such as Gouda or Butterkäse
- Fruit-based desserts, such as cherry tart or red berry compote
- an uncomplicated evening without any fuss
Served chilled – at around 14 to 16 degrees Celsius – it unfolds its full potential. Anyone who wants to enjoy wine without any fuss will find exactly what they're looking for here.

The Wachtenburg Winzer eG cooperative from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route is one of the oldest winegrowers' cooperatives in the Palatinate region: founded in 1900 by 53 Palatinate winegrowers, it now represents the shared craft of 24 winegrowing families who cultivate 350 hectares together. It takes its name from the striking Wachtenburg castle ruins high above Wachenheim—a landmark that is literally reflected in the wines of this cooperative. The focus is on Riesling, but the range extends to over 13 white and 11 red grape varieties, catering to a wide variety of tastes. High-quality wine enjoyment at fair prices and careful stewardship of the vineyards—this is the shared philosophy that unites all these winegrowing families.
