Wachtenburger Grauburgunder Fels dry 1.0L

The Wachtenburger Grauburgunder from the Palatinate is a wine that doesn't beat around the bush. It's direct, full of character, and does exactly what good wine is made for: it gives you a genuine moment of enjoyment – without any detours.

In the glass, it displays a fresh straw yellow color. The nose is expressive and aromatic: ripe stone fruit, a hint of beeswax, and the spicy depth that makes Pinot Gris from the Palatinate so distinctive. On the palate, it delivers on the promise of the nose – a powerful, robust wine with a rich, smooth texture and pleasant freshness. In the Palatinate dialect, they simply say "a mouthful of wine" – and it couldn't be described more aptly.

The 1.0-liter bottle makes it the ideal choice when more than two glasses are needed: for a convivial evening after work, a casual summer evening on the terrace, or as a reliable companion when cooking.

  • Excellent with quiche, tarte flambée and onion tart
  • Goes wonderfully with mature cheeses and hearty Palatinate dishes.
  • It also goes well with fried mushrooms or a simple pasta dish.

A wine that doesn't want to be anything more than it is – and that's precisely why it's so convincing.

Wachtenburg Winegrowers

The Wachtenburg Winzer eG cooperative from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route is one of the oldest winegrowers' cooperatives in the Palatinate region: founded in 1900 by 53 Palatinate winegrowers, it now represents the shared craft of 24 winegrowing families who cultivate 350 hectares together. It takes its name from the striking Wachtenburg castle ruins high above Wachenheim—a landmark that is literally reflected in the wines of this cooperative. The focus is on Riesling, but the range extends to over 13 white and 11 red grape varieties, catering to a wide variety of tastes. High-quality wine enjoyment at fair prices and careful stewardship of the vineyards—this is the shared philosophy that unites all these winegrowing families.
