Wachtenburg Dornfelder Burg line dry
Wachtenburg Dornfelder Pfalz dry — a red Palatinate wine with character, showing what the Dornfelder grape variety can achieve in the right hands.
The Wachtenburg winegrowers from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route produce this wine from Dornfelder grapes, which ripen on the sun-drenched soils of the Palatinate. The result is a robust, dry red wine with a deep, dark color and a bouquet characterized by ripe sweet cherries and fresh herbal notes . On the palate, it is full-bodied and smooth, with pleasantly structured tannins and a long, fruit-forward finish.
An uncomplicated companion for everyday life — whether for a weeknight dinner or as a bottle for a spontaneous evening with friends. It pairs particularly well with:
- Grilled meat and sausage
- Hearty pasta dishes with tomato sauce
- Mature cheeses such as Gouda or Tilsiter
If you're looking for an approachable Palatinate red wine that doesn't need much convincing, you've come to the right place.

The Wachtenburg Winzer eG cooperative from Wachenheim on the German Wine Route is one of the oldest winegrowers' cooperatives in the Palatinate region: founded in 1900 by 53 Palatinate winegrowers, it now represents the shared craft of 24 winegrowing families who cultivate 350 hectares together. It takes its name from the striking Wachtenburg castle ruins high above Wachenheim—a landmark that is literally reflected in the wines of this cooperative. The focus is on Riesling, but the range extends to over 13 white and 11 red grape varieties, catering to a wide variety of tastes. High-quality wine enjoyment at fair prices and careful stewardship of the vineyards—this is the shared philosophy that unites all these winegrowing families.
