Castelfeder Lagrein Rieder

Castelfeder Lagrein Rieder
Lagrein is the distinctive South Tyrolean grape variety that combines strength and smoothness in one glass — the Rieder from Castelfeder shows why it is so highly valued in the region.
The Castelfeder winery has been working with the classic grape varieties of Trentino-Alto Adige for decades in southern South Tyrol, not far from Neumarkt. Lagrein thrives here on volcanic and alluvial soils, which give the wine its typical depth and mineral backbone.
In the glass, the Rieder shines a rich ruby red. The nose reveals aromas of blackberry, blueberry, and violet, along with a subtle earthy undertone. On the palate, fine-grained tannins give the wine a soft feel despite its body—no harsh finish, but rather a long, warm aftertaste with pleasant acidity in the background.
Recommendation: Braised beef shoulder, venison goulash, or a strong mountain cheese from Graubünden. Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Drinking window: now until 2027.
