Castelfeder Pinot Nero Mazon

Castelfeder Pinot Nero Mazon
Pinot Noir from South Tyrol occupies a hard-to-find place between Burgundy and the Alps — Castelfeder shows with this Mazon how it can sound when the location is right.
The Castelfeder winery has been working for decades in Neumarkt im Überetsch, one of South Tyrol's most traditional wine regions. Mazon is a high plateau above Neumarkt, where the combination of altitude, continental temperature fluctuations, and calcareous soils gives the Pinot Noir the necessary freshness and structure it needs for depth.
In the glass, it shines a brilliant ruby red. The nose reveals sour cherry, wild strawberry, and a hint of dried herbs—typically Alpine, without the heaviness of some southern red wines. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a lively acidity that makes the wine linger longer than expected. The finish is spicy and fresh with a mineral aftertaste.
